The client had a beautifully designed site on Squarespace, but the platform capped what they could customize. They wanted the flexibility, ownership, and extensibility of WordPress, without losing any of the polish of their existing design. The brief: replicate the Squarespace site near-exactly, then go further with features Squarespace simply couldn't do.
- 1Rebuilt the Squarespace design in Breakdance as a near-exact replica: layouts, typography, and full-bleed venue photography faithfully reproduced.
- 2Migrated the content and structure onto self-hosted WordPress, giving the venue full ownership of their site and hosting.
- 3Custom-coded the customizations Squarespace couldn't handle: bespoke sections and functionality tailored to how the venue actually operates.
- 4Set everything up to be team-editable in Breakdance, then kept building new features together after launch.
